With our foundation training your horse can move on to any discipline. Using our gentle hands, we open your horse's eyes to everything they will need to be a respectful and trusted partner.
Brenda and Terri are the only two trainers at Wild Deuce. We are the the only people who handle, train and ride your horse. Your horse will receive professional training and riding - not for only one hour per day - but from 6-8 hours per day. In addition, we train a maximum of five horses in each 60 day period. Our training program is well known for the honest hours and quality of training we put into each horse. At the end of our program we spend additional time with you and hour horse - in order to teach you about your horses training.
Quick Links
Initially we put the horse in the round pen to start their foundation training.
We also train them for the pack saddle, protective boots, trailer loading, and teach them voice commands and ground manners.
During the weeks that follow we focus on developing trust and exposing the horse to technical trail riding.
Also in these weeks we pack out deeper into the back country where they learn to lean on us, and us on them. We ride and pack the horses on alternate days.
They are exposed to and learn a great deal here including: hobbling, negotiating every type of terrain, bridges, obstacles, water crossings, doubling and night riding (which really earns their trust).
They are ridden with and without halters.
Packing out is also a very important training tool we use and the miles give them maturity, experience and patience. In the back country we literally live, eat, and sleep with them to develop that important horse-human bond. This is the key to why our horses turn out they way they do.
At the end of the sixty day training you are invited to join us for a weekend to ride your horse. You get on-on-one time with your horse's trainer. We demonstrate all the training that has been done and showcase the accomplishments your horse has made. You are encouraged to ask as many questions as you wish. Whether you're a seasoned rider or a beginner, we are here to help.
We know that each horse is unique and will respond to our training in different ways. Our training methods are used with horses of all types, all stages of training, and all disciplines - all with amazing results. The mountain environment is what differentiates our training. Horses smell and are aware of the wild around them. They work harder, have much more training time, and are exposed to so much more than in a conventional arena training program.
